Streamlining transportation, employing advanced tracking systems, and optimizing routes help minimize delivery time and enhance customer satisfaction.
Cost Effective Optimization

Cost-Effective
Ocean freight is typically cheaper than air freight. The industry rule of thumb is that air freight costs 5-6 times as much as ocean freight. And while air freight costs increase if the cargo is heavy, ocean freight’s cost tends to be determined by the size of the goods, meaning that heavier cargo isn’t necessarily more expensive. Ocean freight is also charged lower duty and value-added tax (VAT) rates than air freight.
Flexible
Ocean freight is a flexible shipping alternative to air freight, and it’s ideal for large or bulky cargo. Smaller cargo shipments can be combined with others to reduce costs, and larger loads can be transported in dedicated containers. Shippers can choose between different container types to accommodate the cargo’s shape and configuration while protecting the contents and simplifying on-and-off loading.
Special Freight
Many commonly shipped materials—such as oil, gas, flammable items (solid or liquid), biological products, or other items that could be harmful to public health—can only be sent via ocean freight. And even items that can be sent via air freight (e.g., lithium batteries) often require special procedures for air carriage.
The Ocean Freight Forwarding Process
Current provides full-service freight. If you tell us what you want to ship, where you want it to go, and when you want the pickup, we’ll take care of the rest. But it’s helpful to understand the basic process of ocean freight, so you’ll know if it’s the best method for you.
Here’s how it works:
Storage and Layout
An efficient warehousing system starts with a well-designed layout. Properly organized storage areas, racks, and shelves maximize space utilization and ease inventory management. Implementing technology-driven solutions like barcode scanning and automation can further enhance efficiency.
Inventory Tracking
Accurate inventory tracking is essential for efficient warehousing. Utilizing advanced inventory management software and barcode systems enables real-time tracking of stock, minimizing errors and ensuring seamless inventory control.
Order Fulfillment
An effective warehousing system enables swift and accurate order processing. Efficient picking, packing, and shipping processes, along with proper quality control measures, help fulfill customer orders promptly and accurately.
Warehouse Distribution

Selecting the appropriate transportation modes based on the nature of the products and delivery requirements is crucial. Options include trucking, rail, air, and sea freight, each offering different benefits in terms of cost, speed, and reach. Optimizing transportation routes can significantly reduce delivery time and costs. Advanced routing software and real-time traffic monitoring help identify the most efficient routes, avoid congestion, and minimize fuel consumption.
Last-mile delivery is the final leg of the distribution process and often the most critical. Innovations such as local fulfillment centers, drones, and crowdsourced delivery networks are transforming last-mile delivery, ensuring faster and more convenient product delivery to customers.
Our warehouse Management Systems (WMS) software automates and streamlines various warehouse operations, including inventory management, order processing, and labor optimization. Our WMS enhances accuracy, productivity, and overall efficiency. Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as RFID tags and sensors enable real-time monitoring of inventory, temperature, and humidity. This data-driven approach enhances visibility, reduces errors, and improves decision-making throughout the supply chain.
Automated systems, including robotic picking and packing, conveyor systems, and autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs), optimize warehouse operations, improve speed, and reduce labor costs. Efficient warehousing and distribution are vital for businesses aiming to thrive in today’s competitive market. By investing in streamlined processes, advanced technologies, and strategic planning, Current International Freight has optimized our supply chains, enhance customer satisfaction, and achieve a competitive advantage.
